Alles in Ordnung!

Um Duo / Berlin 2024

A Prelude

Francisco Catalán and Carmen Volpe perform Alles in Ordnung! with music and contemporary dance. For the first time, I embraced the opportunity to work on an always-changing collaboration with improvisational dance and live music.

Um Duo’s Aria

The performance examines the nuances hidden beneath the seemingly mundane answer to the question, “How are you?”

Each live performance is a unique version of the dance of music, performance, and visuals — and an opportunity to explore new possibilities in the visual library I created with Resolume Arena for the piece.

The key to the graphics was finding a balance between harmonizing with the dancer and the piece, without distracting. Before taking the stage, we rehearsed the three live parts together to find our stride.

The Grand Finale (?)

With such a small team and resources, I got to add my touch to many of the details, including creating the performance visuals, working with the lighting in different venues, and producing the trailer for the piece.

Visual Diction

Where better to understand how people are doing than social media? The graphics mix graphics taken from different platforms with my own custom designs, playing in loops and animations.

Brava! Bravo! Bravi!

“The show is a funny, but also bitter, fresco of our society that, with irony and with a sensitive and acute spirit of observation of the various cultures present in Berlin, criticizes the superficial formality of human relationships.”

Nicola Campanelli - March 2024
